The 2 things we won’t do as a company…

In the world of software CEOs, everyone loves to talk about what’s next—the roadmap, the big vision, the endless possibilities. But today, I want to flip that around and be crystal clear about the two things we won’t be doing as a company:

  • Building our own Business Operating System
  • Starting a Business Coaching Practice

If that seems obvious, we think so too. But with our main competitors diving into these areas, I want to make sure our partners and community know exactly where we stand.

We Love Business Operating Systems—But We Won’t Build One

A Business Operating System (BOS) is defined as: “a comprehensive, documented playbook that outlines how a company operates, encompassing roles, responsibilities, processes, and systems, ensuring everyone is aligned and working towards the same goals.”

And we’re big fans. In fact, Strety was born from our personal need to have a better way to manage our previous company using EOS® (Entrepreneurial Operating System)— a framework that helped us grow calmly and create an awesome business.

We’ve built Strety to support whichever BOS you choose—whether it’s EOS®, Pinnacle Business Guides, MSP+, SummitOS, or your own custom framework. Our job is to help you run your system, not compete with it.

Why won’t we throw our hat into the ring and create our own BOS?

1. We believe in the value of Core Focus & Unique Skills.

Because focus matters. Building software is hard (and fun) enough, why would we spread ourselves too thin?  Besides, everyone can tell when a company defocuses from its core.  It’s obvious in the product feature set or service delivery — things start degrading.  Staying focused is the key for every product or services business. And pretty much a key to life!  If you’re the jack of all trades, you’re the master of none.  We like to be really GREAT at one thing.

(Side note: It’s ironic that some competitors talk about the importance of “focus” while expanding into coaching. That’s a great way to show what they aren’t focused on—building great software. 🤷‍♂️)

Our expertise is in building great software. We’re great at building software (or at least people tell us so). We love BOS systems but we wouldn’t pretend we would be good at creating a whole new system on how to run a business (or repackage existing systems which seemingly the market loves to do!).  So we’re staying in our lane of what we’re good at… and our customers feel it daily and our partners can be clear on where our value starts and ends.

That’s why we’re sticking to building great software for BOS users, not in creating yet another BOS.

2. We’re Operators, Not Coaches.

The other big difference between us and our competitors? We’re operators, not coaches.

Many of our competitors started as business coaches and built software to solve their own coaching problems. Naturally, they now think they can build a better BOS.  I get the temptation.

We come at it from a different angle. We’re software builders and company operators first.  We have built, scaled, and sold companies. And truly it means we’re building Strety for ourselves and for people like us — operators who don’t need another business book or yet another framework: they’ve already found the one that works for them.

That’s also why we’ve built more integrations and more features than any other BOS tool on the market: we’re acutely aware of the urgent need to get s*** done, and we’re obsessed with making it easier for our fellow entrepreneurs.

So that’s why we’re here — to build software that helps you run your business day to day… better, faster, and with more calmness.

Our Commitment to the Community

To our EOS Implementers™, Pinnacle Business Guides, and other partners—don’t worry. We’re not here to compete with you or poach clients for a coaching platform. In fact, when companies come to us asking for coaching, we send them to you (start the process of becoming a Strety partner here, so you can be a part of our referral network). We believe in supporting the ecosystem and the business frameworks you’ve built, not disrupting them.

At the end of the day, our mission is simple:

To build the best software for operators to run their businesses calmly.

That’s our vision for the next decade, and that means saying “no” to the things that don’t align with it.

We’ll leave the business coaching and operating system creation to the many expert coaches out there. We’re here to build software that actually works.
